Don Dessario

For Don Dessario, there are no problems—only opportunities. With a foundation in building technology and five decades in the industry, he works across the full life cycle of Residential projects, from specifications and constructability to forensic analysis of existing buildings.

Don is a trusted advisor on large-scale residential, mixed-use, and adaptive reuse projects, known for simplifying complex building challenges and finding practical solutions that improve performance, manage costs, and create long-term value.

He leads residential projects including affordable, modular, Indigenous, seniors’, and student housing, as well as office-to-residential conversions. Drawing on mixed-use models, he advocates for denser, more inclusive communities that support multigenerational living, shared amenities, and a stronger sense of belonging.

Don brings his industry perspective directly to conversations about housing policy and building codes. A past president of CHBA Calgary Region and active BILD Calgary board member, he works with policymakers to streamline approvals, reduce costs, and improve housing delivery. His contributions to Alberta’s Safety Codes Council have supported codes that balance safety, sustainability, and affordability.
