Doug Roeder connects healthcare strategy with clinical operations and architectural design to help organizations respond to evolving priorities.

As a recognized healthcare practice strategist with more than 35 years of experience, Doug collaborates with healthcare providers to plan and design complex care environments. A licensed architect and certified medical planner, he leads projects across private, public, nonprofit, for profit, academic healthcare, government healthcare, as well as behavioral health and carceral healthcare settings.

Doug translates complex challenges into clear, actionable strategies through experience-based knowledge, including evidence-based design to develop facilities around patient needs and clinical workflows. This approach uses volume metrics, utilization ratios, and operational analysis to guide lean design decisions for best care outcomes. From early advisory services through construction and post-occupancy evaluation, Doug aligns client vision with operational performance to create long-term value.

He understands the market drivers impacting patient care and the solutions needed to address them. The demographic shift in combination with aging infrastructure means expanding care systems are placing services closer to patients through freestanding emergency departments, clinics, micro-hospitals, and other ambulatory settings; while modernization of existing hospital campuses is required to accommodate AI-driven diagnostics, clinical technology, and patient experience.

Doug’s life-long career in healthcare informs his passion for cooking and exploring food’s role in physical and mental well-being.
