Planting Trees for Climate Action

Fostering a more sustainable and resilient future through the power of trees

Trees are powerful allies that foster climate action. Our NORRForward Corporate Social Responsibility program enables tree planting initiatives such as the One Tree Planted Wildfire Fund to facilitate healthy ecosystem recovery in areas that have experienced high-severity fires.

Wildfires are increasingly larger, occurring in more areas, and more intense due in part to climate change. Many of our communities have been affected by recent wildfires, and we feel it’s important to take action now and in the future.

A Growing Global Threat

Benefits of Reforestation

  • Helps carbon sequestration by fixing atmospheric carbon dioxide in their leaves, trunks, and roots
  • Removes air pollutants by absorbing them into their leaves and bark
  • Prevents soil erosion by growing roots that hold the soil together
  • Provides habitat for over 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity
  • Acts as natural air conditioners by reducing ambient air temperatures by up to 8° Celsius
  • Reduces the impact of global warming and climate change
  • Helps protect endangered species
  • Filters our drinking water through their roots
  • Prevents floods and landslides by absorbing water and slowly releasing it via transpiration

Committed to Sustainable Development Goals

We are committed to tree planting initiatives that have long-lasting benefits for future generations and that share the vision of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for peace and prosperity for people and the planet. Through our participation in reforestation, we are supporting Goal 13–Climate Action: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
