Ciel Dubai Marina

Dubai, a city renowned for its skyline, will soon feature the tallest hotel in the world. At 82 floors and reaching a remarkable height of 365 metres, Ciel Dubai Marina will set a global benchmark for hotel design and vertical living. Designed by NORR Group for The First Group, Ciel is ambitious in proposing enclosed landscaped terraces throughout the height of the tower. Construction of this project is moving quickly with substantial completion slated for Q3 of this year.

The design of Ciel is motivated by our quest for clarity and elegance. As a result, the building is dramatic, yet understated. Singular in form, the detailing of the tower and podium is intentionally abstract and minimalist.

The design of Ciel captures the challenge of Integrated Design – the coming together of efforts by our architects and engineers to unlock hidden potential. Ciel is the result of a highly iterative design process requiring a willingness to experiment and to thoughtfully push boundaries. Early in the design effort, computational fluid dynamic analysis and wind tunnel modeling had a dramatic impact on the structure and shaping of the tower. Ciel’s design addresses many complex challenges, including resource efficiency and sustainability, the limits of bending glass in constructing the envelope, and the integration of naturally ventilated landscaped terraces within the form of the tower.

Upon completion, Ciel will accommodate over 1,000 hotel keys and will feature twelve atrium gardens vertically stacked within a 300-meter-tall atrium. The tower includes restaurants, health facilities, and four exterior swimming pools, including an ocean-facing infinity pool at level 76. The top of the tower features an observation deck with dramatic views to the horizon.
