CoreSite, a major data center and interconnection provider, sought to expand its presence in the New York metropolitan area by developing a larger, more efficient data center capable of supporting high density, scalable requirements. They identified a viable location offering proximity to New York City along with direct, low latency connectivity to regional communication hubs. The selected site also provided room for future customer growth, making it well suited for a wide range of deployments in one of the largest telecommunications markets in North America.
The NY2 project is an adaptive reuse of a two-story warehouse and designed to achieve LEED Silver. To accelerate delivery and reduce approval timelines, NORR developed an approach that allowed architectural and interior work within the existing footprint to begin immediately while site improvements, security enhancements, and equipment related upgrades advanced along a parallel track. While NORR employed a modular design approach at multiple levels, the mechanical and electrical systems were configured to support flexible, scalable expansion as user demand increased.
Following strong tenant interest and a successful lease up period, NY2 now strengthens CoreSite’s New York metro campus and supports organizations whose digital, cloud, and interconnection needs extend across multiple markets and international platforms. The facility’s secure, high-density environment, 24×7 operational support, and 100% uptime SLA provide the reliability required for globally distributed workloads.
