RH Palo Alto – The Gallery at Stanford

As the Architect of Record for RH Palo Alto, The Gallery at Stanford, NORR played an integral role in supporting the Gallery’s design, including the detailed millwork packages. This ground up, three-level, 60,000-square foot building is a standalone Design Gallery developed on an existing pad site adjacent to a premier open-air shopping and dining destination. The project team was responsible for permit management, construction administration and documentation. Work encompassed the development of the backbone to meet California’s CALGreen building code for water and energy efficiencies, indoor air quality and the use of sustainable building materials, incorporating the design for a solar panel array on the roof.

The building features a parchment-cream Venetian plaster exterior, with an expanse of glass-and-steel French doors that open onto lush garden courtyards and terraces surrounded by 100-year-old heritage olive trees. Generous courtyards on either side of the grand entrance showcase RH’s Outdoor collection. Each interior level is connected by a grand champagne double floating staircase, which provides access for guests to experience the artistic installations of RH Interiors, Contemporary and Modern collections. The third level boasts a dramatic glass-and-steel atrium Rooftop Restaurant, surrounded by a beautifully landscaped park.
