Principal, Mechanical Engineering, North America

Zach Hatfield believes success begins with a simple yet powerful question: How can I help you—today and for the next 30 years? He prioritizes relationships over transactions–an approach that has shaped his work across large-scale healthcare projects, data centers, labs and high-performance buildings. He thrives in fast-paced environments, consistently seeking bigger challenges and better solutions.

Raised in Kentucky and now based in Philadelphia, Zach brings a unique blend of southern grit and urban drive to his role. With experience across multiple market sectors, it’s his competitive spirit, people-first approach and business acumen that set him apart. To Zach, mechanical engineering isn’t just about systems and specs—it’s a mindset that challenges assumptions, rethinks energy use and questions the status quo.

At NORR, he oversees design standards, drives quality control and integrates energy-conscious solutions that align with sustainability goals. He leads cross-sector innovation, applying ideas from cleanrooms to classrooms and breweries to battery plants. Throughout his career, he has led teams, mentored talent and shaped strategies that deliver long-term value—from energy recovery systems to renewable resources and alternative energy approaches. He champions innovation through data-driven workflows and generative design, advancing how buildings perform and teams effectively deliver. He helps lead a mechanical group that’s agile, strategic and built to last.

Outside of work, Zach stays active golfing and keeping up with all things University of Kentucky athletics. Whether on the field or in the office, he knows that building trust and momentum makes all the difference.
