The second largest blood processing and distribution center of its kind, the Canadian Blood Services Production, Distribution and Testing Facility is designed to be a multi-purpose hub of life-saving services for patients and hospitals across western Canada. As part of CBS’ National Facilities Redevelopment Program (NFRP II), NORR designed a purpose-built facility to meet high-demand needs.
The layout provides discreet spaces for research labs and production areas, to warehousing and logistics-powered distribution areas to streamline time-sensitive blood donations. The medical facility’s main floor, housing laboratories and production, is clad with modern, pre-cast concrete panels. A two-story, glass-lined entrance and administration area greets staff and visitors. Achieving LEED® Gold certification and compliant with Good Manufacturing Processes, this medical services facility brings attention and awareness to the call for blood donations that aid in life-saving procedures every day.
