The Tamarisk NorthShore Deerfield Senior Residences in Deerfield, IL, is a prime example of NORR achieving its mandate to deliver unique, high quality residential care facilities for active adults. Located in a northern suburb of Chicago, the 240-unit independent living residential care development is an addition to the existing continuing care retirement community (CCRC) campus site.
In keeping with the design approach of providing the residents a modern active lifestyle, the building was designed with multiple interaction and amenity spaces. The design features an expansive open lobby with a concierge desk, fireplace, combination bar and bistro with areas for casual, formal and private dining. To create a sense of community, NORR provided social spaces such as a library, card and craft rooms and a theater. The indoor amenity space also features a pool, yoga/pilates studio, sauna and fitness room.
The apartments were designed in a variety of sizes that feature large windows in all living areas for an abundance of natural light. The exterior features a soothing earth tone palette of grays and dark charcoal along with accents of terra cotta. The six-storey building is laid out in an “H-Shaped” plan to create north-facing and south-facing landscaped courtyards protected on three sides to create cozy outdoor spaces for resident relaxation.
