The Clinical Simulation Suites at the University of Westminster’s Cavendish Campus were created to strengthen workforce readiness through accredited, immersive clinical education. NORR partnered with 8Build and the University to deliver simulation environments that support clinically focused nursing and physician associate education, preparing students for the realities of modern healthcare practice across NHS, community, and primary care settings. As Lead Architect, Principal Designer, and Client Monitoring Advisor, NORR aligned academic ambition with clinically compliant planning and delivery oversight.
The project advances the School of Life Sciences’ expansion into clinically focused programs at a time of increasing demand for skilled, resilient healthcare professionals. The University’s vision called for environments capable of supporting complex clinical scenarios while aligning with the requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Council and the General Medical Council, reinforcing confidence in graduate preparedness and institutional credentials.
NORR brought an integrated approach across clinically driven planning, regulatory alignment, and construction‑phase monitoring. Involvement throughout design and delivery helped safeguard clinical functionality, maintain design intent, and support the University’s milestone recognition as the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s 100th Approved Education Institution.
Located on the ground floor, the suites include an eight‑bed ward, an intensive therapy and resuscitation area, a clinical skills laboratory, an assisted bathroom, and support spaces. Designed to mirror contemporary care settings, these environments enable students to practice complex scenarios in a safe, immersive setting. Together, they strengthen students’ technical skills, communication, teamwork, and professional resilience.
The project reinforces the University of Westminster’s position in health education and contributes to a sustainable pipeline of clinicians ready to meet evolving system demands.
